2008 Events: Trail Clearing, Trail Posts & Site Specific Art

In 2007, community members created trail markers to be placed at the junctions of Fairfax Trails, indicating trail name and trail destination. In April 2008, we began putting some of these in, with a big effort on Earth Day by Boy Scout Troop 43 from Larkspur!

On Sunday April 27, 2008, an event called "Art into Action" involved clearing brush on several Deer Park trails, then using cleared brush to create "natural sculptures" along one of them with Environmental Artist Zach Pine. The main effort was on the Forest Terrace Trail which starts at the intersection of Meernaa and Forrest Terrace in the Deer Park neighborhood. Billed as a Community Work Party and Art-In-Nature Event, it was organized in partnership with Marin Ayurveda, Fairfax Volunteers, and Sustainable Fairfax.
